There have been a few fancy words thrown around lately in the ever-changing world of business. Digital sustainability is a real thing these days. It is something I have spent a great deal of time contemplating, mostly as it involves my business. Digital sustainability focuses on the everyday technology used by businesses to reduce environmental, social, and governmental impact. It means adapting existing infrastructure or introducing new initiatives to help reach sustainability goals. Why is business sustainability important? Business sustainability helps solve or mitigate ecological, social, and economic problems through the strategic management of resources. It seeks to improve the effect a company has on the external world. In return, the business generates goodwill with employees, stakeholders and the community. In addition to solving these problems, business sustainability may boost savings and promote the long-term financial health of the organization. If a company spends less on resources, it can increase profits. Similarly, a company's sustainability initiatives may elevate its standing in the community and with employees and improve business results. Consider a digital filing system as opposed to a paper filing system for your business.  Scan South, located in Jackson, Mississippi helps businesses reduce their paper loads. If you are a business, you know that every year, the paper just keeps on coming. Filing cabinets fill up. You are not alone. Every year U.S. offices use approximately 12.1 trillion sheets of paper per office worker with an estimated 60 million trees cut down to meet demand. U.S. businesses, the largest consumers of paper in the world, could be at the forefront of reducing deforestation. Digital documents help the environment and the business and its customers. Digital documents can be backed up – not lost. With a proper document management system, digital documents can be managed, dispersed, and signed online, making paperwork more streamlined and efficient. It cuts down on environmental waste, because even recyclable paper needs to be transported and processed, which takes a great deal of energy.  The most effective way to reduce waste is to prevent it from being created in the first place, through a process called waste minimization – something that can be achieved through digital sustainability. Now, imagine your office – not running paperless as many have once dreamed of, but with the many filing cabinets now reduced to what your business produces this month, this quarter, or this year. Everything else is digitized and your business paperwork is now secure and easily accessible by you and your employees online. If you need more evidence that digitizing is worth the time, read these facts. 1 in 20 documents are lost or misfiled daily. 20% of an employee’s time is spent searching for documents. $125 is an average cost for every misfiled document. $1188 is the cost of office space yearly for a 4-drawer file cabinet. 5% is the average amount of office space used to store paper. Organizations that digitize see on average... 35% reduction in costs. 52% reduction in errors. 4x faster response rate to customers & staff Less waste means greater margins and smaller purchasing costs, making business more profitable and increasing digital sustainability. Digitizing documents is not a new industry, but relatively speaking we are in the early years of our industry. Scan South started this business for several reasons, not the least of which is to make the lives of our customers and all we serve better today and tomorrow. Scan South’s focused goals are designed to boost financial and sustainable outcomes for our customers while we reduce our carbon footprint and resource consumption. LOCATION - LOCATION - LOCATION   If you have decided to digitize your items, then they must be valuable to you.  Many customers are uncomfortable boxing and shipping their items out of state.  And the shipping often doesn't stop there.  Some companies take advantage of lower labor cost by shipping your photos, videos, and documents to another country where the people handling your items may be paid only a few dollars a day.  Scan South currently serves the entire state of Mississippi plus the surrounding states.  We are headquartered in Jackson, MS in the heart of Fondren.  You can drop off your items at our office or we can make arrangements to pick them up.  For companies with very large jobs we can break a job into multiple phases and pickup, scan, and return items by phase.

No Box Gimmicks  Sorry, we don't offer pretty boxes.  You don't have to request a box and wait for it to be shipped to you.  We don't tell you to fill a box and limit what you can put in it. That's right, no "box package" is required.  Most of our customers have their items already in some type of container.  So, your items can come as they are.  If you are a commercial or government account and you need items moved from filing cabinets to boxes, we can help with that too.   Our pricing is affordable and based on the job, not a limited amount that you fit in a box.
